Nicole Koenitzer and I have designed a door hanger and slim jim for use by supporters of the Libertarian Ticket for 2008. Each activist will need to print them out on their own and with their own funds. This activity due to campaign finance laws cannot be aided by the campaigns. Persons spending more than $250 will need to file with the FEC for an Independent Campaign Expenditure. Persons spending over $100 will need to file with the Pennsylvania Department of State.
The Slim Jim can be printed on standard paper (I recommend Bristol or Cover Stock of some kind), as long as you can cut them apart.
The door hanger is designed for form DK2L-P from blank-doorhangers.com. With shipping, I ordered enough in the 67 Bristol to print 1000 door hangers for under $40. If you wait to order the stock, your overnight shipping will end up costing more than the paper! If you are canvassing an area with single family housing, I strongly recommend the door hanger. In case you aren't aware, you could end up paying a fine for stuffing a slim-jim into someone's mailbox.
I have samples posted here, to obtain useable copies you will need to email me brainbuz..a.t..brainbuz.org, because you need to have your name inserted into the file to comply with the legal requirements.
