The Burn draws nearer. A couple of Philly people I know are going: Linda, (Lee's X) is going to Burning Man, Reno is going, Dennis is going. I'm going with Heather and Terry, two of my friends from San Francisco.

Blue Oyster Cult and Joan Jett

WMGK, the local classic rock station, sponsored a free concert at Cooper River Park with Blue Oyster Cult and Joan Jett. I went with my friend Lee (Linda's X), we missed the first few BOC songs, but otherwise it was a great concert. I need to send a thank you to WMGK, both for the concert and for broadcasting Little Stephen on Sunday.

Burning Man

I've already bought the ticket and given notice to the job that I'm going to Burning Man this year. First I'm going to East Coast Thing, the weekend before.

Memorial Day Weekend

I went to the FF Anniversary Party in Fort Lauderdale. A friend was flying out from LA for the party, but she got a new job and couldn't take off. I had to buy a ticket last minute for another friend to come with me from Philly.

Job Situation

At first I was aprehensive about the job. But I wasn't in a spot where I could say no. The job is with an outsourcing firm in India, which has the contract for e-mail administration of a Dow 30 Company. The work-site was in Princeton, but moved after 4 months to Trevose, which is much closer to Philadelphia. Payment arrangements were a huge issue / problem here, they could only pay 1099 (which means incorporation, quarterly witholding, and IRS nightmares), and with a considerable lag (not the weekly pay checks that are the norm for working with agencies. I was able to find a great agency to do my payrolling My Biz Office. The 1099 to W2 conversion adds a week to getting paid, but has turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because I get benefits and tax advantages I wouldn't normally get working for a regular agency. If you are reading this and have an opportunity to work with My Biz Office, please mention that you were referred by me, so that I can take advantage of the generous referral bonus.

April 9. What Birthday?

Sometime Saturday morning my DSL died. So not only was I working on my Birthday but I had to do it in Princeton. I managed to get in dinner with my Father and Step-Mom and Jose Tejas in Woodbridge. It's a great Tex Mex / Louisiana restaurant, but don't go at peak hours, seating is strictly first come first served and the place is busy. It took over an hour to get seated.

The earliest the internet can be back on is Tuesday. That's if they overnight me a replacement for the modem that failed. If they don't overnight the modem, I'm going to cancel DSL and order cable. That also means that this update is going to be sitting on my computer for a few days. Maybe we'll have a party next weekend.

Working on My Birthday

Posted April 2, 2005

I'm scheduled to work on my Birthday, Saturday April 9th. Complaining about it nearly got me fired!

An Update here is long overdue!

I got back from Florida on Yule Eve.

Chandra, my roommate, assisted me in scattering Fuzzball's Ashes into the Delaware at Penn Treaty Park. I videotaped it, not sure if I want to put it up.
